How To Study the Bible

1) 2Tim 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2) 2Pet 1:19: We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

3) Isa 28:9, 10: Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

4) 2 Cor. 13:1: This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

5) John 7:17: If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

6) 1Cor 2:10 – 14: But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

7) 1John 4:1: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

8) Isa 8:20: To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

In order to study and successfully interpret the Bible one must maintain an open mind and accept the Scriptures {Both Old and New Testaments} as the Word of God, take each verse as it reads except when a symbol or metaphor is being employed, allow the Bible to explain itself by comparing Scripture with Scripture and ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In the cases where a verse seems to contradict another verse or an established doctrine one must search all of the passages of scripture on that subject  and compare them together. In order to determine whether the Translators made an unfortunate error in accordance with their own beliefs and biases.
