Contrary to the myths propagated by the propagandists of the Christian Conservative Political Movement. Dedicated to using the power of the state to enforce their own religious beliefs upon the rest of the nation; by manipulating public opinion in order to have their political candidates elected into political office.
Jesus was not a Conservative and declared that his Kingdom was not of this world:
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. John 18:36
Once upon a time a rich man asked Jesus, “What good thing must I do to inherit eternal life?” Keep the commandments.” Jesus replied. “Which one Master?” the rich man asked so Jesus began quoting the last six of the ten commandments written on stone with the Father Above’s own finger. “I’ve kept all those from my youth up!” the rich man declared. So Jesus looked the rich man in the eye and stated matter of factly, “Go sell all that thou hast and give it to the poor, take up your cross and follow me.” When he heard that the rich man turned away from Jesus and sorrowfully walked away for he had many things. See Matt. 19: 16-22.
I always think of this story from the New Testament when I hear Christian Conservatives defend the financial hoarding practices of the 1% while watching the poorest of the 99% struggle through life. None of us from the poorest to the richest got there on our own for it was the Father Above who gave the rich their talent to make more money then they’ll ever need. Who also gave to the rich the gift of the poor among us to not only remind the successful as to how blessed they are; but, to provide a check against the temptation to fall into the sin of greed. After all the Word of God declares that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35.
Now if only conservative Christians would return to preaching Christ’s message instead of defending the amorality of the white collar criminal class. Whose greed has throughly tainted and corrupted the financial sector along with the American political system our nation, families and citizens would be much better off in the future than they are today.
