The Nature of Christ

Genesis 3:14-15:

And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Isaiah 7:14:

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

John 1:14:

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Romans 8:3:

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Hebrews 2:14-18:

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Summary

The argument over the Nature of Christ is a lot like the argument” Which came first the chicken or the egg. And is just like a dog chasing his tail – round and round he goes but never manages to catch his tail.

Fallen Humanity = Likeness of Sinful Flesh = Adams Nature after the fall…

Sinless Divinity + Fallen Humanity = God in the flesh/Jesus Christ…

Jesus was sinless when He joined with and became one with Fallen Humanity and overcame sin in the flesh despite the disadvantage of being joined with/at one with Fallen Humanity. Perfecting a Righteous Character by the very same means available to the sons and daughters of Adam – an ongoing relationship with His Father through the agency of the Holy Spirit. Proving beyond the shadow of doubt that Fallen Humanity United with Divinity/Jesus through the agency of the Holy Spirit can indeed keep the law and overcome Sin in the Flesh despite the disadvantage of having inherited Adams Fallen Nature.

It really is that simple…
